Enugu State Association in Italy, in partnership with Nonet Oil Palm Plantation and Milling Company Nig. Ltd, is implementing a multi-year palm plantation project with the aim to contribute to the economic development of the state as a key actor in the oil palm value chain. Through this project, Enugu-Italy and its subsidiary organization, Development and Cultural Initiative Enugu, contributes to the diversification of the state’s economy, particularly through agriculture and its subsectors in tandem with the visions of accelerated economic growth by the state government.
This is in line with the efforts of the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote oil palm industry, expand area under improved oil palm, achieve import substitution, improve productivity of farmers and support upstream and downstream processing activities to produce quality crude palm oil, vegetable oil products and other palm bye-products, while creating employment opportunities for the youth.
This scalable project is currently in its second year over a land area of three hectares. The association will access the performance of this project in the coming months and launch efforts to attract more investments in the sector through its members and partners.
